Why O Panneerselvam As The New Chief Minister of TamilNadu

O Panneerselvam was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu two hour later the announcement of J Jayalalithaa’s death. O Pannersevalam was a loyalist to J Jayalalitha for an extended time. He was interim Chief Minister of Tamilnadu many times in her absence. He was sworn first time as the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu during 2001-2002 when Supreme Court barred J Jayalalithaa from Chief Minister.

Later in 2014-2015, when J Jayalalithaa was convicted in disproportionate assets case, He was again trusted by the AIADMK member and was made the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu.

O pannerselvam was handling the office after she was admitted in Apollo on 22nd September 2016 and this made all the party to trust him again as the Next Chief Minister of Tamilnadu after J Jayalalitha’s death.

Panneerselvam is the first man from the Thevar community to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. O Panneerselvam had filled in for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa when she was arrested in 2014. Once a tea stall owner, Panneerselvam, 63, held two key portfolios of Finance and Public Works in the Jayalalithaa Ministry.
