National nursery portal started
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched the National Nursery Portal, which will help farmers associated with horticulture. Referring to the possibilities in the field of horticulture, the Union Agriculture Minister said that through this, the youth of the country can contribute to increase the gross domestic product (GDP) by becoming big entrepreneurs.
Economy will benefit
He said that in spurring the country’s economy, the field of horticulture has emerged as a potential agricultural enterprise. He said that horticulture is becoming important in nutritional security, poverty alleviation and employment generation programs. The field of horticulture not only provides a wide variety of options to farmers for crop diversification, but also helps to promote agro-based industries. Also, there are huge employment opportunities in this sector.
All kinds of information will be found on the portal
Tomar said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has set up an ‘online digital platform’ for nurseries, so that farmers / growers and other stakeholders can easily get access to the availability of quality planting material available in their vicinity. Through this portal, operators of nurseries will be able to display their profiles and place sales offers.

Buyers of Planting Materials will also be able to inquire directly online and see sales offers similar to their needs. This new National Nursery Portal, developed by the National Horticulture Board, will help the buyers to have easy access to the nurseries and they will be able to get information about the quality, availability, etc. of quality planting material. Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala and Kailash Chaudhary were also present in the program.
