Registration process
For e-filing, first visit www.incometaxindia.gov.in. Click on Register Yourself option here. Now select User Type (Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), Personal / HUF, External Agency and Chartered Accountant etc.). In this you have to select Individual. Then click on Continue. After this, fill the PAN number, your name, date of birth (recorded on the PAN), residential status and click on submit. After this, you have to fill in other details like password, mobile number, landline number, email ID and address. After filling all the required details in the registration form, click on ‘Continue’. After doing this, one time password ie OTP will come on your mobile number. Verify your registration by putting it on the website. By doing this, you will get yourself registered for e-filing.
Method of filing ITR online
To file ITR sitting at home, visit the Income Tax Department portal (incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in). Choose the option to fill the form here, here you will also have to select the assessment year. A new page will open after doing this. From here choose ITR Form No. 1 and filing process. If you are filing ITR for the first time, then choose the option of Original. If you are filing it again due to a mistake in the previous ITR, then choose the option of Revised Return. Now after filling all the information, submit it under submission mode ‘Prepare and submit online’. Then select an already valid bank account. This is the bank account in which you will get an IT refund if you are eligible.
