Riya Chakraborty, the main accused in the case of the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was questioned by the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) on Monday for the fourth consecutive day. The investigating agency conducted several questions and answers for nine hours. In all, the CBI has so far questioned Riya for 35 hours in four days. Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide on 14 June in a flat in Bandra, Mumbai. However, the CBI is investigating both the suicide and murder angle.
In addition to Riya, the CBI also called her brother Shouvik Chakraborty for questioning in the case, DRDO Guest House in Kalina, Santa Cruz. Riya Chakraborty was questioned by the investigating agency team for more than 10 hours on Friday. After this, the actress reached her house in the security cordon of the police as a large number of media personnel were present there. The CBI team also questioned Siddharth Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and accountant Rajat Mewati, living in the flat with Rajput.
Riya is accused of abetting Sushant to commit suicide. In the case of Sushant’s death, there was a new twist on August 27, when parts of the conversation between Riya and others on WhatsApp surfaced in the media, which also allegedly mentioned drugs in this conversation. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had said on Saturday that he had received some complaints seeking an inquiry into the alleged drug dealings in the Sushant case which he would refer to the CBI.
A three-member team of the Narcotics Control Bureau has moved from Delhi to Mumbai, which will also investigate the role of drugs in the case. Apart from this, the Enforcement Directorate is also investigating against Riya.
