Another B.C. resident has claimed the title of Miss Chinese International in the annual TVB television network pageant held in Hong Kong.

Over the weekend, 21-year-old Jennifer Coosemans became the seventh Vancouverite to claim the prestigious title, topping 13 other competitors from around the world. Coosemans, who is a mix of both Chinese and Belgian heritage, vied for the title against other competitors from cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney.

Going into the competition, she was a favourite to win the pageant. She intends to pursue a law degree, although this remains to be seen: Many past pageant winners often deviate from their ambitions, turning their pageantry success into a highly successful career in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry.

Before moving to Vancouver, Coosemans studied chemistry at the University of Northern B.C. Her win in December 2015’s Miss Chinese Vancouver, held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, allowed her to represent the city in the international competition.
