Oil marketing companies have increased the price of retail fuel for seven days from the last 10 days after the end of elections. But despite the rise in international crude market on Wednesday, its effect has not been shown on domestic prices.

The prices, which have been stable for the last two months, started increasing after the results of the assembly elections in five states on May 2. Since May 2, prices have been increased for a total of seven days and in these seven days, petrol has become costlier by Rs 1.68 and diesel by Rs 1.88.

Apart from this, there are four areas in the country – Bhopal and Anuppur in Madhya Pradesh, Sriganganagar in Rajasthan and Parbhani in Maharashtra – where petrol is being sold beyond 100, the price of premium petrol is beyond 100.

Talking about Mumbai, petrol is Rs 98.36 per liter and diesel is being sold at Rs 89.75 per liter. Petrol is being sold in Chennai at Rs 93.84 per liter and diesel at Rs 87.49 per liter. In Kolkata, the price of petrol is Rs 92.16 and diesel is Rs 85.45 per liter.
