Bangalore, September 15, 2015: In an effort to promote a nature friendly and responsible Ganesh Chaturthi, Ola India’s leading mobile app for personal transportation is enabling its customers in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad order eco-friendly Ganesha idols from the app with one touch, this year. Customers can request for a beautiful eco-friendly idol of Lord Ganesha to be delivered free of cost, at their doorstep by clicking the GANESH icon that will appear on the Ola app between 11 am and 5 pm on September 16.

Sudarshan Gangrade, Vice President – Marketing at Ola said, “We are excited about offering on-demand Ganesha idols to our customers on this occasion. We are encouraging our customers to go eco-friendly by providing environmentally-safe idols. This effort from our side can go a long way in helping our cities and water bodies become clean. As part of our mission to enable mobility for a billion people, we are committed to initiatives that promote sustainability that will make our cities a better place to live.”

Users can request a Ganesha idol at their doorstep, just like they would request a cab. This option will be available a day before the festival so that customers can start their preparations a day in advance. Customers can check availability around them in real-time and track their Ganesha idols coming to them in an Ola cab, once the request is placed.

Hundreds of thousands of Ganesha idols submerged in water every year are made of poisonous chemical paints, leading to reversible damage especially for the rich flora and fauna underwater. With this campaign, Ola brings to its users, eco-friendly Ganesha idols that are made of paper pulp (paper-mache), natural colours and natural gum making it completely bio-degradable, causing no harm to the environment.
