Why increase the price

Regarding the price hike, the Indian Oil Corporation says that the price of LPG gas cylinders is determined by state-run oil companies and revised on a monthly basis. The company further said that earlier the rates were changed in July but the state oil companies are under constant pressure due to Corona, as the prices of LPG gas cylinders have been revised in December. Not only this, the government had also eliminated the need to provide subsidy on domestic LPG due to Corona.

Sudden increase

Before that, state oil marketing companies announced new rates of LPG for December. The companies did not alter gas prices then. But today suddenly the prices went up.
