New Delhi: The price of non-subsidized LPG cylinders has been increased by Rs 50 across the country. This is the first time in the last 5 months that prices of non-subsidized LPG gas cylinders have increased. This increase has been made by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
After the price hike, now 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinder price in Delhi has increased to Rs 644. In Mumbai, the price of gas has been increased to Rs 644, in Chennai, the price of LPG cylinder is Rs 660 and in Kolkata it is Rs 670.50.
Why increase the price
Regarding the price hike, the Indian Oil Corporation says that the price of LPG gas cylinders is determined by state-run oil companies and revised on a monthly basis. The company further said that earlier the rates were changed in July but the state oil companies are under constant pressure due to Corona, as the prices of LPG gas cylinders have been revised in December. Not only this, the government had also eliminated the need to provide subsidy on domestic LPG due to Corona.
Before that, state oil marketing companies announced new rates of LPG for December. The companies did not alter gas prices then. But today suddenly the prices went up.
