IFFCO and ICAR come together to double farmers’ income by 2022

The Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) signed an MoU with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for collaborative research, testing and verification of various products through ICAR institutes and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). This will enable these centers to disseminate technological progress by providing training through awareness programs, campaigns, field trials and demonstrations for the benefit of farmers. This step will help in doubling the income of farmers by 2022.

Scientists were present through video conferencing during the event organized at the ICAR campus. DDG, ICAR Dr. AK Singh, Dr. T. Mahapatra, Secretary DARE & DG ICAR, Dr. US Awasthi, Managing Director IFFCO etc. were present on this occasion. Dr. Mahapatra said that this is a historical event. We can reduce fertilizer consumption by 15%, this will be an important contribution to agriculture and the farming community.

IFFCO Managing Director Dr. US Awasthi said that it will help in dissemination of technology through the laboratory along with contributions from the best minds of both the organizations. The objective of this collaboration is to serve the farmers in reducing the consumption of chemical fertilizer by effective use of technology. We are working to get chemicals out of the soil. ICAR will support and encourage these ventures. He further said that the MoU will help in solving the problems of the farmers. This is another collaborative step to double farmers’ income by 2022.
