GST Return: Deadline for filing monthly GST return extended, now you can file till 26 June 1

New Delhi. In the crisis of Corona, the central government has given relief to the businessmen across the country. The deadline for filing monthly GST returns has been extended by 15 days. Earlier, 11th was the last date to present the monthly sale details for the month of May. Which has now been extended to 26 June. In view of the COVID-19 wave, it has been decided to extend the deadline for filing monthly GST sales returns for May.

15 days extended to 26 June
The Central government on Monday said that the deadline for furnishing monthly sales statement for May under GST has been extended by 15 days till June 26. The decision was taken in the meeting of the GST Council on May 28, chaired by the Union Finance Minister. In view of the wave of Kovid-19, this decision was taken to extend the time for compliance. The council consists of the finance ministers of all the states.

Earlier June 11 was the last date
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) took to Twitter to inform about the relaxations given by the GST Council. The last date for furnishing details of supplies of goods consigned in the month of May 2021 in Form GSTR-1 has been extended by 15 days. Earlier June 11 was the last date, which has now been extended to June 26. Businesses are required to file GSTR-1 by the 11th day of the following month giving details of the supplies made during the respective month. Businesses have to fill the GSTR-3B form between 20th to 24th day of the next month for payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Approval to file GST return from EVC instead of DSC
The GST Council has also approved the extension of the last date for filing annual returns for a composite dealer by three months to July 31 for the financial year 2020-21. Also, taxpayers registered under the Companies Act have been allowed to file GST returns by using Electronic Verification Code (EVC) instead of Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) till August 31, 2021.
