Senior Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Azam Khan had claimed an allegation against PM Modi stating that he, during his visit to Pakistan, met the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Lahore. The Government has clearly stated on Saturday that the claim is completely baseless and is hence false.

Khan was attacked by the BJP soon after the incidence. An official spokesperson from congress did not respond to the claim as he finds it to be unbelievable.

Azam Khan’s claim goes as follows, “Prime Minister visited Pakistan by breaking international laws. He also met Dawood there. Let him (Modi) deny. I will give evidence. Who all did he meet behind closed doors?”

He also continues giving more details saying Modi met not only Dawood Ibrahim but also his mother, wife and daughters on the 25th of December 2015 at the residence of Pakistan’s Prime Minister.

Several reactions immediately came up as the words said by Khan came to light. Sudhanshu Mittal from BJP sought an immediate dismissal of the minister from the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav’s end. He said, “If Akhilesh means business, he should immediately dismiss him for disturbing communal harmony and brining shame to the nation. I am shocked,” he said.

One of the official spokesmen also stated, “There are certain statements in a section of press that prime accused in serial blasts in Mumbai, Dawood Ibrahim, was also present during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on December 25, 2015. These statements are baseless, unfounded and totally false,” as a response to the same.

Tom Vadakkan, a congress spokesperson also opined that the minister, in spite of being into politics for years together, had made a statement that was entirely devoid of proof.
