Flipkart to help Karnataka mango growers online sales of fruits

The e-commerce platform Flipkart and Karnataka State Mango (Mango) Department and Marketing Corporation entered into an agreement on Tuesday which will help the mango growing farmers of the state to sell their fruit products online through the Flipkart platform. Flipkart said in a press release that this initiative will enable consumers to get a variety of mangoes online in the current season, in Bangalore urban, Kolar, Haveri, Hubli-Dharwad and Belgaum districts. Under the MoU, farmers will have direct access to consumers.

Flipkart said that it will provide its marketplace platform to Mango Board Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) vendors, producers and traders and for this they will first be linked to the platform. Consumers can place orders for several varieties of mangoes including Alphonso, Badami, Apus, Banganapalli, Saffron, Neelam, Himam Pasand, Sendur and Mallika in a three kg consignment on Flipkart’s platform.

Flipkart said it has partnered with various FMCG companies and retail companies over the past few months to offer a wider range of essential products on its platform. With this partnership, the company is expanding outreach to the community of farmer producer organizations and contributing to the livelihood support of mango growers and the farmer community.
