The Modi government is constantly engaged in promoting cashless transactions, but this campaign is proving to be very difficult for banks. According to a report issued on behalf of SBI report, banks have to bear an annual loss of Rs. 3,800 crore from digital payments.

Increased pressures on banks’ pocket

Since the Demonetization, the bank has been constantly increasing the number of Point of Sale (POS) terminals and machines for cashless transactions. Where in March 2016 banks had installed 13.8 million POS terminals. After the Demonetization, their number has increased steadily and till July 2017, 28.4 POS terminals have been installed. Accordingly, the bank is charging an average of 5000 POS terminals every day.

Increase in Cashless Transaction

This has given a boost to the campaign of digital payment of Modi Government. According to the SBI report, after the Demonetization, there is an increase in the debit and credit card transactions, In October 2016, there was a transaction of 51,900 crore rupees. That same level has reached 68,500 million by July 2017. Apart from this, cashless transactions of Rs 89,200 crore were highest in December 2016.

Income of just 900 crores

SBI has said in its report, “We estimate that banks have to bear an annual loss of Rs 4,700 crore due to the transaction. However, Net Revenue of banks is 900 million rupees per transaction. In this way, they are facing a loss of Rs. 3800 crores annually.

Income from POS

For imposing POS terminals, banks have to bear the cost of infrastructure charges. It has to spend in other things, including setting up of POM terminals, clearing, settlement, training of traders, managing terminal and supplying them. Banks have income from merchant discount rate and month rental, which is very low.

Improve Telecom Infra

SBI report has suggested to the government to improve the telecom structure. It has been said in the report that if the government wants to increase its digital payments agenda, in the right direction, then it should arrange better spectrum for financial transactions.

GST is going to be implemented from July 1. Due to this, a lot will change economically in the country. Some things will be expensive, some cheaper. Meanwhile, speculation is being made that your banking, telecom service, hotel and insurance will be expensive due to GST. The companies are also giving information related to GST to its customers on a regular basis.

How will GST effect?

Since the last few days, the bank has been telling its customers that the tax on the credit card bill will increase from 15% to 18% from July. Likewise, telecom companies also said that the monthly bills would also increase, as the profit on input tax credit would be lower.

Telecom to be placed in placed in 5 or 12 percent slab instead of 18

However, seeing the lethal situation of the telecom sector, companies like Airtel and Idea have asked the ministry that the telecom sector to be treated as essential services and should place it under the slab of 5 or 12 percent instead of 18 percent in GST. When rates were fixed in the previous month, the government had said that the input credit available to the companies would not be an extra burden and would reduce the cost of about 3%.

It would be expensive to take an insurance plan

Insurance companies have also said that by imposing 15 to 18 percent, this tax will increase the premium and the worst effect will be on the pure term. If you take an annual premium of 25000 rupees for the plan of 1 crore, due to GST it will be 4500, which is currently Rs. 3750. The effect will be less for ULIP, where the premium is taken by management or on the death insurance,

Government is not agreeing to make changes

At the same time, the 5-star hotels have also emailed their customers with the details of increased taxes, but the government says that this tax has been kept for upcoming tax. The government has not given any kind of consent to the logic of service providers.

Companies will have to lower prices

An official told that the companies should pay the benefit to the customers as low prices, we have asked the ministry to resolve the matter with the service providers at the earliest so that there is no pressure on the customers.

Saudi Arabia: Indians working in Saudi Arabia are thinking of sending their dependents back to India. People working in Saudi Arabia are going to get a new tax on July 1. After the implementation of this tax, individuals who work there are going to be subjected to additional financial loss. Due to the new tax in Saudi Arabia from July 1, people working there must pay 100 riyals i.e. around 1700 rupees per month for one of their dependents. After the implementation of this tax, financial problems are likely to increase for 41 lakh Indians residing there. To avoid those difficulties, these people want to send their dependents (parents, spouse and children living with them) back to India.

Many families has returned to India
According to the report of the English newspaper Times of India, computer professor Mohammad Tahir has told that many families have planned to go back to India because they think that they will not be able to spend on their dependents. Migrant Right Activist Bhim Reddy has told that in the last four months many people living there have sent their families back. He is now they are forced to stay alone there.

To maintain a dependent, earning should be 5,000 riyals per month
According to the law in Saudi Arabia, a visa to a family is only given to people who earns at least 5000 riyals that are approximately 86,000 rupees a month. If Indian lives there and his wife and two children are staying with him, then he will have to give 300 riyals that are approximately Rs 5100 every month as the tax.

Taxes on Dependents to be increased by 2020
Not only that, this tax applied in Saudi Arabia will increase every year. This tax will be increased 100-100 per year by 2020 every year. This means that for a dependent living there, in 2020, 400 riyals i.e. Rs 6800 will be paid as tax. With this, it has been said that the tax amount will be paid in advance only. That is, if a person lives with his wife, then he will have to pay 1200 riyals i.e. 20,400 rupees in endurance.

Dependent fees to be paid by some companies
However, some companies have decided to give dependent costs to the people working for them, but most people will have to pay this fee themselves. On the impact of this tax on India, a senior external affairs ministry official said that nothing can be said about this right now.

big-blow-to-o-pannerselvam-640x492.jpg

Chennai: Last Week Madras High Court questioned Tamil Nadu police over the stay of MLAs in Golden Bay Resort. Madras High Court has received a respond regarding this in which they said: “There are only 119 MLA in the resort, not 130 as claimed by o pannerselvam and all of them were staying at their will.” It can be a devastating blow to the supporters of Panneerselvam.

Panneerselvam said that the Sasikala camp had held 130 legislators as a hostage forcibly in the resort located on the outskirts of Chennai. Panneerselvam is currently the caretaker chief minister of TamilNadu, and such statement of state police in the courts can result against pannerselvam. Police also told the court that the statements of all 119 legislators are recorded, and none of has made any complaints or said that they are the hostage.

The State is facing the power issue from some time, and now the AIADMK party has split into two factions Panneerselvam and Sasikala. Both the leaders are claiming the majority to form a government.

The C Vidyasagar Rao governor of TamilNadu has invited both of them and had listened over their claims. The governor is yet to acknowledge who is eligible to form a government in TamilNadu. Meanwhile, eyes are on the Supreme Court verdict over the Sasikala’s disproportionate asset case which is expected this week.
