Post the success of the biographical film ‘Neerja’, Amul has released an endorsement featuring Neerja Bhanot in her memory, and also to salute her courage and fearless attitude. Neerja Bhanot, the young attendant of Pan Am 73 flight, lost her life as she fought courageously to save the lives of 359 people onboard in 1986 when the plane was hijacked at Karachi.

Prior to the film’s release, the makers of the film had also unveiled the last audio clip of Neerja before the plane was hijacked. The 23-year-old Bhanot was the youngest civilian to receive Ashok Chakra. Apart from being an air hostess, Neerja also did a few modeling assignments and endorsements.

‘Neerja’, which released this Friday, has been garnering applauds for the bravery of the air hostess. The role of Neerja has been enacted by actor Sonam Kapoor and the film has been directed by debutant Ram Madhvani. The film also marks the debut of singer-turned-actor Shekhar Ravjiani.

The film is being appreciated by the critics for the way the real life story has been depicted on the big screen. Besides, Sonam’s performance in the film has put an end to the criticisms and doubts rose questioning her acting skills.

When Neerja’s mother Rama Bhanot met Sonam, she said that her daughter was prettier than Sonam. Actress Shabana Azmi enacted the role of Rama Bhanot in the film. It’s believed that Sonam had to undergo a lot of pressure to portray the character perfectly in the film and even met the family of Neerja Bhanot to perform her role in a better manner.
