Cauvery Row: Top 10 developments on Cauvery Issue

  • Large mob turning out in every nook and corner of the city has escalated the situation. Police open fire on an aggressive mob in Peenya, North Bengaluru

  • More than 20 Tamil Nadu registration buses were burnt. Many trucks were in flames in different parts of the city

Cauvery Public Property Destroyed

  • Karnataka CM has called for an emergency Cabinet meeting tomorrow to discuss the escalating Cauvery issue
  • Section 144 was imposed at 5 PM as a preventive measure and additional forces have been deployed in Bengaluru which has a high tamil population

  • 15,000 police personnel, 3,000 homeguards and 270 Cheetah vehicles have been deployed across the city to maintain law and order situation
  • Thousands of policemen along with riot gear were spread across to control the situation. Police vans were positioned along the border areas to keep a check on the buses and trucks
  • Metros in the city were suspended and Section 144 was imposed
  • Violence erupted in Karnataka after the Supreme Court directed the state government to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu
  • Some parts of Tamil Nadu too witnessed the protests. New Woodlands hotel in Chennai was vandalized by Tamil groups and some buses with tourist vehicles were damaged near Rameswaram
  • CM Siddaramaiah has seeks Centre’s help in bringing back the situation to normalcy
