Chennai Super Kings Petition Rejected;No Relief from Ban

Madras High Court on Thursday refused to grant interim relief to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on being suspended for two years from the IPL tournament. It is a big blow for CSK. The Court have issued notice to India Cements Ltd, Indian cricket board (BCCI) and the Bihar Cricket association to present detailed affidavit. The Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha panel gave the verdict for two years ban for CSK from playing IPL Tournament.

The two-judge bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul adjourned the case to September 23 and verbally made it clear that any decision taken by the Board (BCCI) shall be subject to the final order of the court.

On August 28 BCCI’s working committee in Kolkata, is going to the meet for taking the decision over the future of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Interestingly, both these teams and their owner Raj Kundra Gurunath & Meiyappan due to their involvement in betting during the IPL 2013, IPL has suspended both the owner for two years.

Board Working Group on Thursday in connection with the operation of the IPL 2016, IPL governing council will submit its final recommendations to the Association. There is every chance that the BCCI would invite tenders for two new teams.

According to CSK, Neither of their management not their players are involved in IPL betting 2016 case. While CSK also that Meiyappan was nowhere related to team either as shareholder or as a member of management committee.

They also said the verdict by RM Lodha committee was totally against the fundamental principles of natural justice.
